the Rector As we journey through
the solemn season of Lent towards Holy Week and Easter I invite parishioners
to join us for mid-week worship in Holy Trinity (services listed above). I also draw your
attention to the Rural Deanery Lenten Talks that are taking place in the Knox
Hall, Monkstown. NJS Lent During lent special
services of quietness and reflection will be held every Wednesday in Holy
Trinity Church at 8pm.

discipline? Rural Deanery Lenten
Talks The
Annual Rural Deanery Lenten talks began on Tuesday 28th February
at 8pm in the Knox Hall, Monkstown. These continue every week during Lent. This year’s topic is ‘Economic Justice’. World Day of Prayer This year’s service will be held on Friday 2nd
March at 11am. The
congregation of St Stephen’s Church, Killiney, will host the service which
will be followed by refreshments in the Carry Hall. The 2012 liturgy has been organised
by the women of Malaysia on the theme ‘Let Justice Prevail’. All welcome. Easter General Vestry The Easter
General Vestry will be held in the Carry Hall on Sunday 25th March
following morning service.
All are welcome to attend. Pancake Party At the
time of going to press plans are well under way for the ‘Pancake Party’
to be held in the Carry Hall on Sunday 19th February. All proceeds will be presented to the
National Children’s Hospital, Tallaght. Treats for Valentines Love was in the air on
Sunday 12th February. Following a Family Service in the
Church based on the theme, ‘Love’, parishioners retired to the Carry
Hall for refreshments.
The Flower Guild had organised a bake sale to aid their funds. All goodies were
heart shaped and sales were steady! In the end the total amount raised
was €730. Well
done to all those who organised and supported this fun-filled event which
will greatly help our Flower Guild. Ladies Guild Thanks to S. Hayes and
A. Trapnell who brought along Rory and Rhea to the
February meeting of the Ladies Guild. Those gathered learned a great deal
about the wonderful work of the Irish Guide Dogs and Peata. The March meeting will
be held on Tuesday 13th March at 10.30am. The topic will be ‘Thoughts on
and from Tranisition Year’. A further event has been planned for
Wednesday 28th March when will we journey round the M50 to the
Rector’s former parish (Taney) to visit the historic church of St Nahi.
Should you wish to attend, please meet in the grounds of the
Carry Hall at 10.30am on Wednesday 28th. All Welcome. Clergy Conference The Annual Clergy
Conference was held in Kilkenny from 6th – 8th February. This years speakers were Professor
David Ford from the University of Cambridge and the well
known Irish poet, Micheal O’Siadhail. Readers and Intercessors If you
would be interested in reading at services and/or leading the Prayers of the
People at Parish Communion once a month please sign up at the Church door or
speak to the Rector. Children and Church We are grateful to ht leaders of our Sunday Club who have organised a wide
range of events and activities for the coming months (details on the Church
Notice board). Children
who wish to remain in church can avail of the Children’s packs at the back of
the church and/or follow along in our Parish Communion services with the ‘I
can join in the Holy Communion Service’ booklets. Celiac? Communicants
who wish to receive gluten-free bread please inform the Rector or a

magazine is on its way entitled ‘The Obelisk’. Any news item for the Easter edition
should reach the Rector before 30th March.
Eco Congregation Ireland Keep an eye on the notice board in the Church on
news and updates. Hospital Visiting The
Rector would appreciate being told if parishioners are in hospital, going
into hospital, are being transferred or if they have been discharged, and
will be pleased to offer pastoral support.
A selection of prayers is available from him or in the Church porches. Diocesan Employment Bureau, situated in Taney Parish Centre, it is our hope
that it will be of help to many who find themselves without work for a
variety of reasons. Full
